HAUNTED HOP 2019 EDITION

Here's my latest poster for the GREATEST HALLOWEEN PARTY IN NYC that goes down at the KNOCKDOWN CENTER on OCTOBER 31st (unlike all these posers throwing their party the weekend before or after). These posters are always a fun challenge and sometimes a frustrating challenge in how I can balance a buttload of text along with a fun image. I think I've managed to keep them entertaining while mostly being informative these past 3 years. 

Jonathan Toubin always brings the heat every year and they just keep getting bigger and better. If you've never seen The Make-Up live and have always wanted to, I suggest you bite the bullet and do it this Halloween. Be sure to get your tix asap! Soul Clap & Dance-Off with The Black Lips

2018 is coming to a close and Jonathan Toubin is throwing a Soul Clap & Dance-Off holiday party of grand proportions! The Black Lips are headlining the night and are being supported by two great NYC garage bands, Gnarccisists and The Advertisers. I used a pretty minimal palette on this piece and I really enjoy the final outcome. I'm such a broken record about this but I really try to practice restraint, as hard as it is for me, and I was pleasantly surprised how it worked out. I love all those old illustrated jazz albums covers of the 50's but I go too crazy to ever learn any lessons from them. Anyways, the show kicks off at 8PM, SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15TH at ELSEWHERE. New Gimme! Coffee A-Frames!

Some brand new a-frames for Gimme! Coffee in Williamsburg. There's a new mega fridge in the shop, full of fancy juices, matcha, kombucha, and 'gurt and I couldn't help but think of the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey when I first saw it. 

It's October so I might as well use this month to give some nods to my favorite horror films and we're kicking it off with a salute to Dario Argento's neon witchy ballet flick, Suspiria. I did an homage to the creators of the films soundtrack, Goblin, a few years back so I dug that photo out as a nice companion piece. I really think I've made a valiant effort at getting better photos of these signs over the years. I mean, just look at that little thumb blur, distracting background, and slightly out of focus look on the Goblin pic. Someone was definitely not givin' 2 shits.

PMS & THE MOOD SWINGS

I've been sitting on this one for almost a year now but, the time has finally come for the big announcement: The PMS & THE MOOD SWINGS album is being released JUNE 1st on BURGER RECORDS!!! I loved working on this piece, not only because I know these people but, I love Coney Island, and putting these 2 things together was a dream come true. This is the time first time I've been able to illustrate almost every aspect of the album art and it was a lot of fun to tie this whole thing together. Sun Ra Arkestra at the Soul Clap & Dance-Off!

The big 11th anniversary bash for Jonathan Toubin's Soul Clap & Dance-Off is gearing up and it's gonna be a wild one. Tried to get a little extra crazy with this month's poster since the Sun Ra Arkestra is gonna be showing up as the big headliner for the night. James Chance and The Contortions, Ice Balloons and Ryan Sawyer are also gonna be tearing it up on the stage aaaaand Kid Congo Powers is guest djing. The big party kicks off at 8pm on March 17th at Elsewhere in Brooklyn. Tickets HERE!

From 95 The Met to Earnhardt

Recent t-shirt design I whipped up for the band, Earnhardt. A while back, the lead singer of the band was a regular at the coffee shop I work at and spoke to me about a t-shirt I was wearing. It had a hot pink and blue logo of the radio station, 95 The Met, which I grew up listening to. Turned out he was from a town a short drive away from where I grew up and was curious if I actually knew the station. Well, that sealed the deal, we've had some beers since then, he's helped me assemble some stuff for my apartment and I've been to some of his shows. So, when the time came for a t-shirt design, how could I say no? Him and the band had a pretty solid idea for the design and the color scheme so we messed around with some sketches and then quickly moved into the final and that was that. Thanks to Adam for asking me to do this. Long live the southern tier!
