New work and new podcast alert! A lot of my neon sign illustrations have been done primarily for my own personal projects so I was stoked when I was contacted by a client that wanted something very similar for the cover art for their new podcast.

The client and I are both boys of New York's southern tier so I swapped out the desert landscape that I usually use for these illustrations and went with that western NY landscape I know and love. Working on that sunset and landscape definitely made me feel a little homesick but, I know there are ticks galore in that tall grass so I didn't get too excited about running, arms wide open, through a field on my next visit home. 

The podcast is called 1-900-FISH-BEER and it premieres on Apple podcasts and Spotify this Thursday (5/18) "Weird fishing stories that are rarely about fishing and almost never about beer" Check er out!

 

"Signs on The Road" #7 - 9

Recently wrapped up a few more pieces in the "Signs on The Road" series. I was originally thinking I would only make 6 but, the world keeps turning and I keep writing down little observations so I'm thinking this will just be an ongoing series until I'm absolutely tired of making these. I can't claim credit for one of these because I pulled it from Neil Young's "Sail Away" one of my favorite songs off Rust Never Sleeps. It felt like doing a cover song that fit in with the concept of an album I'm working on.

Recent A-frames

Over the past few months I've had the fortune of getting back to some a-frame work for Makitiki's summer pop-up over at South Street Seaport (see a couple posts back for more info on that) and Bin Bin Sake, a new sake, wine, Japanese whisky and shochu shop in Brooklyn. If you're down at the seaport this summer keep an eye out for these bright babies and they'll guide you to a little oasis tucked in the center of all the action.

 

Showtime at The Grayhaven Motel!

Ok, folks. My show is officially up at The Grayhaven Motel in Ithaca, NY from now until Nov. 30th! The actual opening night shindig will take place on Nov. 5th from 5-8pm. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend but please swing by anyways. Opening night will be in conjunction with First Fridays in Ithaca so there'll be plenty of other shows going on in the area for you to bounce around to. 

Masks will be required while you are in the building no matter your vaccination status so please be respectful and throw one on while you're there. Signs on the Road

Recently wrapped up this little series "Signs on the Road". After I drew that little hot dog stand with the devil in the background of the "One Last Dog for the Road" I got this idea to do this little road trip series focusing on some stuff that makes me feel like our ways are leading us down some weird highway to hell, but at least it's filled with modern convenience.

Hoping to be showing these, along with some other pieces, this fall. I've put off hanging this body of work for the last 17 months because I don't have any need for it to make money or anything, I'm just waiting to put it up when I feel good about having people congregate together in a closed space. Thought we were getting there a couple months ago but guess some people just like to help perpetuate this problem. This series is for them. 

 

City Kitties Hit the Country

Some recent personal work I've been chipping away at. I have a good grip of sketches from the last year I'm trying to build up into a body of work about life during the pandemic. City people have probably never engaged with the outdoors more than they did this past summer. I thought the neon cats I have been making over the last few years would lend themselves well to this idea.

I've also been really enjoying drawing grass with colored pencils and crayons this past year. It's very meditative and has been a soothing activity to help deal with all the noise in the world. I could imagine covering a whole wall or room with it someday.
