The Soul Clap is Back!

The Clap is back!!! And NO, it's not the kind that that sweet little thing from your wild summer back in '81 gave to you. This is the Soul Clap and Dance Off hosted by Jonathan Toubin. It's all going down at Brooklyn Bowl, Saturday, September 19th. And, if I'm not mistaken, along with guest djing, Mikal Cronin will be playing a set before all the dancing begins.

Can't Believe This Actually Happend

A few months back, I was contacted by The New York Times about the a-frame drawings I had been doing at Gimme Coffee and that they were interested in including me in an article with other people who had been doing similar work for cafes and bars. Yes, you read that right. Little ol' me, and other fellow practitioners of the trade, were actually getting enough attention from our sidewalk sign drawings to get picked up for an article by the New York Times! Welp, here it is, people:

For this last one, I have to include an inked version I did, because I'm stupid and didn't take a photo of my Brewed in the USA one. I can't believe that shit. Of all the ones I neglected to take a photo of, it was of one inspired by a true hero of mine.

New one for Gimme! Coffee. They have a new cafe opening up in the also new Gates Hall at Cornell University. There's going to be free drink cards given away when you buy a drink there. I included the text for that below, along with some process pics.

Soul Clappin and Dancin in Madison Square Park

It's been a couple months but I'm back with a new Soul Clap poster. You may notice this one is looking a little different from the previous ones and it's because.....get ready for it.... it's the first ever outdoor Soul Clap and Dance Off!! And it's all going down at Madison Square Park. 

Randy Jones, of The Village People, will be rejoining Jonathan for another adventure of twisting and shaking in the name of winning of some sweet prizes and the admiration of your peers. It all begins on Wednesday, July 29th, at 6pm. One more thing, IT'S FREE!!

The Vans x Homegrown anniversary special

I had the honor of working on a pretty special project for my friends skate shop in Ithaca, NY a few months ago. The 10 year anniversary of his shop, Homegrown,  is coming up this fall and Vans approached him about doing a t-shirt to commemorate this occasion and he reached out to me to do the illustration for it. It was a lot of fun to illustrate the skatepark I spent a great deal of time at when I was younger and include little nods to its flooding issues and a friends favorite pair of shoes. If you want one of these bad boys ya gotta get to Ithaca, go to Homegrown, buy a pair of Vans and hope the limited supply hasn't run out yet. Big thanks to Andrew and Joe for this opportunity.

Pig Roast Poster for The Meat Hook

I quickly whipped this poster up for the gang at The Meat Hook for the pig roast they'll be having at Good Co Bar in Brooklyn. They've kept me well fed with their amazing sandwiches so I had to help them out with something. The event goes down on July 11th from 5-10pm. Tickets are available on the Good Co Facebook page.

Summer Solstice at Roberta's Pizza

Just wrapped up this poster for Roberta's Pizza summer solstice party on June 21st.  It all starts at 2pm and charges through for a sweet 8 hours of, hopefully, good times. In case you've never been, this place is a pizza goldmine and this could be as good a reason as any to get your butt there to give it a try. Maybe you'll even see the Clinton's there, casually snacking away. Loaded it up on the process pics for your viewing pleasure.

A recent piece, a lil' labor of love, if you will. There's always someone out there trying to spoil your fun. Don't wanna preach too hard here but this is my apocalyptic vision of 'no skateboarding' signs. People have asked if I really saw this.
