Sunday Soul Scream!

Recently whipped up some stuff for Jonathan Toubin's Sunday Soul Scream party that takes place every Sunday from May 26th - September 1st at Our Wicked Lady in Brooklyn. First up here we've got the illustrations for the first ever t-shirt I've had the chance to create for Jonathan and then a colorized version of the calendar graphic that will be the poster.

There's a couple pics below of the shirts. They're available in a variety of sizes at Our Wicked Lady for $20 and they are super soft, super comfy and the perfect weight for those warm summer days. Hopefully everyone will wear them til they're covered in holes and tearing apart at the seams, then donate them to their local Salvation Army and in 30 years some kid in middle America will find one and wonder what this weird, cool thing is and wear it with no idea as to what the Sunday Soul Scream is. But, they'll be stoked they've found this bizarre shirt that no one has any clue about.

"A Taste of Touchstone"

News flash! I'm teaching a portrait drawing course in September and there's a show opening next week to showcase all the talented professionals who will also be teaching at Touchstone Center For Crafts in Farmington, PA alongside me. You may remember these two from the glory days of "Bathhouse" and in case you didn't see them then, this is your second chance. They'll be chillin at the Saville Gallery from February 3rd-17th. Opening night is February 10th.

Here's a little sneak peek at the catalog my class is included in. For more info, hit the LINK

Road Dog

It's been a crazy 4 months but I finally have time to start posting some of the pieces I created for "Bathhouse". A lot of the work was planned but this piece was such a spur of the moment thing. I think I did the sketch when I was taking a break and in a few days had finished the fleshed-out version and decided to include it with the others. And, after it's all said and done, is definitely one of my favorites in the show. When I look at this it feels like listening to Darkness on the Edge of Town while watching Rumblefish. Process shots below.

In Between Documenting Europe..

This was done before I sat on the couch on November 8th and watched the results of the election in total disbelief.

Around Halloween I always wanna do some sketches about my favorite horror movies and it always comes back to An American Werewolf in London. It's the one for me. I even found the alleyway from the final scene in the movie while I was in London.

Keep on Keepin' On

Tattoo ideas, but not for me. I've been tossing around the idea of starting to make some flash sheets from these and other sketches I have laying around. Always liked that South Park where Death is pursuing the kids and Stan's grandpa on a tricycle.

Richard Lewis

Kate Bush. Drew her a few times and always made her look older than she is in the photo.

Ray Davies

I just really liked the colors on Billy Crudup's face in this shot from the movie Jesus' Son

Scott Walker, from the cover of the documentary 30 Century Man

"Boy, I got vision, and the rest of the world wears bifocals."

These last two are from a selection of notes I have that would probably be best titled as, "Weird Shit That Has Been Said to my Friends on The Streets of New York." I've encountered characters everywhere, but the ones in NYC really take the cake. The bottom one made me feel so gross while I was working on it. It was hilarious hearing the story, but drawing it was pretty rough. Luckily, I won't have to look at it much because I plan on giving these away to the people that have told me the stories.

A Straggler

This one was also in that second batch of fake bands. Forgot to include the poor guy. Enjoy!
