Happy to report that this bad boy was chosen to be included in the American Illustration 40 Archives. Thank you to AI and this year's judges.

Wild Times at The Drive-In

New one in honor of the holiday I make the most illustrations about and the Elmira Drive-In, and just drive-ins in general. I miss the days of hanging out there and watching some b-grade, and sometimes top shelf, horror double feature. And some probably fondly recall going there to make out with someone for hours. 

This was originally intended to be a straight forward landscape painting but I couldn't resist adding all this mayhem. The drive-in is a mash up of several looks that they've had over the years. There are some nods to favorite films of mine and then just general nonsense that I associate with the genres. Detail pics below.

 

In Between Documenting Europe..

This was done before I sat on the couch on November 8th and watched the results of the election in total disbelief.

Around Halloween I always wanna do some sketches about my favorite horror movies and it always comes back to An American Werewolf in London. It's the one for me. I even found the alleyway from the final scene in the movie while I was in London.

Let These Monsters Skate

I have this piece on my website, but I don't think I ever posted anything about it on here. Unfortunately, due to funding, the board was never printed. I'm still pushing to get it done, so hopefully it will see the light of day at some point. I've included a good chunk of process pics that showcase most of the coloring process and the various shoes I wore while working on this.

I had just moved into a tiny bedroom in Brooklyn so the floor was my studio for a few months. Was laying on my stomach most of the time I worked on this.

 The second round of fake band illustrations. I Had 2 ideas for Creature of Nature and was originally going to do the evolution of killing version, but it just became really boring to keep on drawing it. Like 8th grade math homework boring. But, here it is anyways.

I Can't Quit You Blogger

So, I decided to come back to blogger. I'm still using my Tumblr, but I thought it'd be really neat to give myself another thing to do so that I can drive myself crazy even faster. I honestly started to feel like I had abandoned a child, or forgot my little brother at the grocery store. Damn you internet! Here are some recent pictures I have made.

I swear I haven't become this cynical about skateboarding. I still love it. I think I still have some years ahead of me before I trade in my time that I used to skate for time on the bar stool.

Two different ways I chose to pay homage to my favorite horror movie of all time. Yea, you read that right. I can guarantee that no horror movie in the future will impress me as much as An American Werewolf in London does. And even if it does, I won't admit it.

Summer Sketchzzzzzzzzzzz

Summer has been sort of quiet, so I figured I'd share some random sketches. It's nice having friends that blow glass. It requires them to be quite focused and still for a while, so I basically have free models to draw whenever I want. Here are some from my friend's studio.

These next two are just a few from a bunch of pages where I just lay down random colors and then draw whatever comes to mind when it dries. I wouldn't say these are great images by any means but you never know when a random sketch can inspire you for something bigger later on.
