Down on the corner

Still keeping the dream alive with the bodega cat drawings. I'm trying to shake it up a little bit so things don't get too repetitive here. In college I was turned on to Ronald Searle's cat books and later on I noticed Ralph Steadman had done one as well and I'm pretty sure Edward Gorey placed quite a few cats in his illustrations. There are probably a bunch of other illustrators I'm not aware of that have some affinity for drawing them as well. I guess illustrators and cats just have some weird, magical bond, or maybe it's just that we appreciate a pet that lets us work as long as we please.

SHOWTIME! AGAIN!

My piece "Everything Must Go!" is currently hanging in the Atrium Gallery at Corning Community College for their 60th annual alumni art show. The show will be up until December 14th. Be sure to stop by and check out some of the great work. Some teaser pics below.

Haunted Hop Vol.2: HALLOWEEN NIGHT PARTY!

Well, this is the most text I have ever put on a poster, and probably will be that way for the rest of my time. Maybe. There's a lot going on here so don't forget to take a break, get some water and food, and then come back to digest the rest of this information. Had a lot of fun with this one. Return of The A-Frame!

Several months ago someone ran off with Gimme! Coffee's a-frame and it's been a hard pill to swallow. Well, not really. I actually think it's funny someone carried that thing off. It was not light. It's probably in a dump somewhere or smashed to pieces in some dark, lonely, cold alley way somewhere but, I can always dream that someone was so in love with one of my drawings that they took it home and placed it there so they can admire it for years to come. I can dream, can't I?

Anyways, Gimme! got a new one and I'm back at it with drag queens and serial killers.

Neon Jesus

Blast from the not-so-distant past right here. This was the last piece I wrapped up for the 2 person show "Bathhouse" my friend Travis Winters and I had at Corning Community College in March 2017. I cut it so close to the line that I had no time to scan this piece in before I had to throw it in the car and head off to hang it. So, here it is: Neon Jesus. I think after visiting museums and churches in Europe for 3 months I felt this compulsion to do my own take on Christ on the cross. I really thought there were process sketches and doodles that I wanted to share but I couldn't find anything besides these photos of my coloring process. Anyways, enjoy!

The Haunted Hop!

New poster I cooked up for Jonathan Toubin and Kid Congo Powers's Haunted Hop tour kicking off on October 25th in Chicago. We decided very early on that since Kid Congo had been a member of The Cramps, that doing a homage to one of their album covers, and possibly one of the most iconic in the history of music, was the perfect direction. Shadow Dancing

Whipped up a quick one for Jonathan Toubin's Soul Clap & Dance Off at Baby's All Right in Williamsburg this Saturday the 23rd. Jonathan wanted to let his fabulous shadow dancers get a moment in the spotlight so I did my best James Bond/In like Flint sort of homage for this one. There will also be a 16mm projections from Spencer Bewley going on during the dancing so it was very fitting for the shadow dancers to be featured on this illustration.

Like a Modern Cowboy

Something new-ish. Thinkin' there's going to be a triptych happening out of this piece. More will eventually follow until the exciting story is complete.
