I'm posting these here together because I feel like these two, along with the alarm clock piece I posted earlier, are all companion pieces. Yes, I gave all the main characters in the pieces these goofy cartoon faces but I think the mix between Saturday morning cartoon innocence and real life absurdity is the driving point. Along with these, that's probably the best way to sum up most of my work currently hanging in "Character and Narrative" at the Foothills Art Center. The show runs for a few more weeks and then is OVER! FOREVER! Get it while you can. Process pics below.

I Won't Be Needing You Anymore.
This triptych is part of my body of work currently hanging up in "Character and Narrative" at the Foothills Art Center. I made this series a couple years ago and had no outlet for it other than it was something I had been thinking about and wanted to make. I've been really fascinated by my/our love of the outlaw/classic male and moving ahead with the things we love about them and leaving behind the less than savory aspects. I'm also very interested in how they navigate their way, clumsily, through this changing world. Show runs until October 20th.

HOT DONUTS
"HOT DONUTS" is a collaborative piece between Travis Winters and I for the group show "Character and Narrative" which is currently on display at the Foothills Art Center in Golden, CO. We had originally planned to have this done a couple years back for our show "Bathhouse" but we ran out of time with all the other pieces we were working on. We managed to get it all wrapped up this time around though and I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. Seeing it all now with the backing, I honestly don't think we would have executed the piece as well if we had rushed it for the first show.
Some process pics below detailing most of the backboard progress. You can catch this piece along with a ton of other work from Tom Sarmo, John Van Horn, Travis Winters and myself until October 20th at Foothills Art Center.

Soul Clap & Dance-off with The Detroit Cobras
After the dust settled from teaching out at Touchstone and wrapping up work for the opening of "Character and Narrative" out in Golden, CO. I've finally gotten back into the Soul Clap & Dance-Off poster making groove. I decided to stretch this one out into a more psychedelic realm rather than echo the soul revue posters like I usually do. It was probably the drive through a pretty wild storm in Kansas and Colorado that inspired this. Skim down below to see the photos of the storm that I am referring to.
