Lots of recognition for New York's nocturnal happenings from 3X3 this year. Happy to report that the judges this year selected my Bodega Cats series for an honorable mention and 3 of my Soul Clap posters to appear in the physical copy of the 2016 illustration annual. Thanks again to all the judges and 3X3!

Soul Clap Tour Poster
This year's Soul Clap and Dance Off poster output has been a fun adjustment. Last year I was crankin' out one a month, which is totally fun and challenging, but it's been nice to sit with these a little longer and take my time. Now that Jonathan isn't doing the Brooklyn Bowl venue anymore I have been working up posters for bigger events or finding a way to use a poster multiple times, like the one above. Jonathan mentioned he needed to update his tour poster and we really went through some revisions on this one and took our time to find something we really loved. In the end, it's one of my favorite images I've made for him so far, and The Mighty Hannibal works great as a genie.
These are a small sample of the sketches I worked up for this project. The train seemed like a good idea in the beginning but ended up sort of bland and obvious. I still wanna find something for that dashboard hula girl.
You may notice a slight difference on the bottom of this image from the one on the top. Some people are just too weird for the dance floor.

Passengers Cafe
An old coworker/a damn good friend moved From Brooklyn to Cleveland last year and in his absence there has been a void, both emotionally and creatively. We collaborated and brainstormed on many projects together when we both worked at Gimme Coffee and I've missed his creative energy. I know for the past year he has been busy working on opening a cafe in Cleveland and eventually he asked me to help him create an illustration for him to use on some store merch. Although the creative process wasn't us sitting in a musty basement and giggling for hours, it was fun to collaborate with him again. The dude has been hard at work and I'm stoked to help him out with some of my drawing skills so, without further ado, I give you PASSENGERS CAFE. The cafe just opened last week and is located in the lobby of the Cleveland Hostel. Be sure to pop in when you're in downtown Cleveland.
This project went through a lot of brainstorming and sketch phases but we eventually decided on some sort of passenger pigeon image. Lot of process pics below.
