Last minute Soul Clap & Dance-Off poster swooping in on ya! There's quite a fantastic psychedelic line-up for this month's party so we channeled that Parliament spaced-out funk for this month's illustration. Even though this one was done under a very tight deadline, I had a blast working on it. Something about illustrating spaceships, stars and cosmic dust really does it for me. INFO AND TIX HERE!

Livin' Astro at the Soul Clap & Dance-Off
We got us a wild one here! Kool Keith and Ian Svenonius on the same bill! This is going to be a Soul Clap & Dance-Off to remember. Had a blast working on this one and listening to "Black Elvis/Lost in Space" over and over. I originally planned to do this all green poster but balancing all the values was a headache so I just decided go with some of the color craziness of the "Livin' Astro" music video. Got some process pics below, if you're into that sorta thing, and click on the link to get your tickets before this baby sells out!

Space Jamming
I did a quick portrait of Kurt Vile a few months back(pictured directly above) and decided I wanted to revisit it and turn it into more of an anonymous stoner guitar player zoning out while he/she jams in the living room. Note how I did not write 'spacing out' because that shit would just be cheesy.
Some of my work from the last year is currently hanging up on the walls of Gimme! Coffee on Lorimer Street in Brooklyn. Go check it out!!!!!

New New
Just a little something for fun. Is it a famous movie quote? Is it folklore? Is anybody reading this?
My friends threw a party for their documentary and invited a few people to hang their work for a one night show. I was one of those people. Click on the link below to marvel at all their hard work and determination. If you love Kevin Bacon or Paul Erdos then maybe donate some money to the cause.

Still trying to make pet portraits cool. Check out this little guy and his UFO.
When a copy of Jaws sits in your DVD player for a week you may be tempted to watch it 3 or 4 times. You may also be tempted to do some little riff on the famous cover for an a-frame that advertises coffee.

Something New
Kurt Vile.
Some recent a-frames I did. The X-Files inspired one is definitely going to be a t-shirt in the near future.
Another teaser from my Death Race 2000 piece.

Fear of Space
I've posted a similar picture before on this blog of an astronauts insides oozing out into space and my header is pretty much the same thing, just without the other astronaut shooting him in the head, and I think this one above is sort of the final installment in a pretty basic trilogy. As a kid, I used to have this intense fear that earth's gravitational pull would collapse, or just stop working, or just do whatever it would have to do so that there would be no more gravity, and I'd float out to space and that would be the end of me. Sorry, but Science class after 7th grade became a chore so sounding like I know what I'm talking about, or even seeming remotely intelligent on this subject is not gonna happen. I also saw Total Recall at an impressionable age, so those two things convinced me that there's no oxygen in space and people just explode without their space gear.
Here's right before I started laying down the color.
Detail shot.

Another Glimpse Into My Free Time...
...and another astronaut exploding. I must be regressing into my pre-teens. There's no other explanation for all this weird sci-fi/astronauts dueling in space bullshit I've been sketching a ton of recently.
Bryan Ferry. One of my favorites.
Here's some classic Ferry doin' "Slave to Love" and a cover of "Jealous Guy" that totally beats Lennon's original. And David Gilmour is even there rippin' it up.
The Boss doin' the classic boss face. For years I couldn't stand him, then he became a guilty pleasure, now I have just come to accept that I am a Springsteen fanatic.
Here are some of the sketches I did of Iggy Pop. Doing all of these helped me figure out which pose I wanted to use on the sign for Gimme Coffee, which I think there's an obvious choice here, but then I just couldn't stop drawing him. Seriously some of the most fun poses to sketch for reference. Pic of the sign can be seen in my previous post.
I hope this happens.
